Am I Strong Enough? Ch.9

Chapter 9

Surprises...Surprises....

I woke the next day, laying on my stomach. My face was in the pillows and my hair was sweaty and stuck to my neck and face.

I groaned as I lifted my head off the pillow then looked next to me. I smiled softly as I saw Soul laying next to me, still asleep. I slowly sat up and yawned.

I grabbed his shirt from the floor and put it on. I sniffed it. It smelled just like his cologne. I stretched my arms into the air, yawning. His arm wrapped around my waist. I giggled.
"Good morning sleepy head~"

"Morning..." He said with a yawn, then smiled when he realized I was wearing his shirt.

"Does this mean I gotta wear yours?" He teased. I giggled,

"Well, you ain't gettin' yours back anytime soon!" I smiled and leaned in kissing him softly.

"I love you..." I said softly. His face turned pink. His face turned pink. He smiled softly,

"I...love you to..." I smiled happily and hugged him tightly.


                                         
Later that day, I had refused to give him his shirt back so he was wearing another one. It was a plain black shirt that fit him snugly, showing off his toned abs perfectly.

I wore his shirt and my black short shorts, along with a pair of fishnet stockings and long black hightops. I placed a black choker on my neck and pulled my blonde hair back. It had grown out since the beginning of the school year. I put on some black eyeliner and mascara then applied some strawberry pink lip stick and coated it with some clear lip gloss to make my lips look fuller and glossy. The eye make up made my green eyes stand out beautifully.

I smiled as I examined myself in the mirror, just as I heard a knock at the door.

"Come in!" I called as I continued to tussle at my hair, trying to get it to fall into the place I wanted to. Gabby walked in and smiled upon seeing me.

"Long time no see, Maka." She said and smiled wider. I looked her way immediately.

"Um, we saw each other yesterday..." I said slightly confused.

"It's been so long, though!" She exclaimed excitedly.

"Yeah, one night is like, a million years!" I said playing along.

"Right? But seriously, I came to say goodbye." She walked towards me and lifted the brush from the dresser. She started to brush my hair back and do a fancy fishtail braid that I had no clue how to do.

"I can not believe we have to leave already!" I whined to her. She laughed and held her hand out for a hair tie. I put an aqua green one in her hand. "I've missed you so much. This was much needed, Gabs." We laughed and hugged together tightly.

Just then, Soul came out of my bathroom...in a towel...My face turned red.

"Get dressed!" I shouted and began throwing clothes at him. His face turned pink noticing two girls in here. One he was okay with, the other...not so much.

"You could of warned me!" He said, grabbed the clothes and ran back into the bathroom. My face was redder then a tomato. Gabby looked at me in shock then started laughing.

"Why is Soul in here?" She said raising an eye brow, she had a big grin on her lips.
Then Alex walked in. This and the question only made me blush harder.

"And why was he using your shower?" She continued. Alex gave her a confused look and said,

"Why is who using your shower?" He looked at me with eyebrows raised.

"Soul is using Maka's shower and he just walked out of the bathroom with nothing but a towel on!" She wiggled her eyebrows suggestibly and giggled.

"Oh, Maka, you, uh, want to explain?" Alex said calmly and looked over at me nervously.

"Uh..W-well..you see...I and he and uh and we uh..." The words wouldn't even form in my mouth! All the thoughts of last night came flooding back to me. It was actually a wonder why Gabby, Alex, Gavin or even Sarah didn't hear anything last night...

Soul came out of the bathroom, dressed in a tight fitting black t-shirt and some jeans that had holes in the knees. He was drying his still wet hair with a towel. Gabby and Alex gasped seeing him. As if they didn't believe that he had actually used my shower. He still had a light blush on his cheeks, which made me blush even more. He walked straight up to us, bent down, rested his chin on my shoulder and grabbed me by my waist. He smiled,

"So, what's happening today?" He asked, looking up at Alex and Gabby as they stared at him in amazement. He was acting as if what happened earlier was just a figment of our imagination. That was Soul for you.

I cleared my throat."Uh yeah, Gabby just came to say goodbye 'cause we are leaving today. Alex just walked in to...what did you want, Alex?" I turned my head to look at him as he cleared his throat.

"Oh, right. I wanted to know if Soul wanted to hang out with Gavin and I today? You know, a last boys hangout sort of thing." He said with a shrug.

Alex had always been the more proper or formal one out of him and his brother. He read books and listened to classical music while his brother played video games and listened to rap.

Soul looked at gabby and then Alex. He nodded his head,

"Sounds cool to me, sure. I mean, if it's okay with my girlfriend, that is...Maka?" My face blushed at that and he grinned. Gabs giggled then grinned evilly.

"Are you sure you guys are only dating~?" That made both of our faces turn red. Alex laughed and put her hand on Gabby's shoulder.

"Come on leave the poor couple alone Gabs. Now...Where is that punk Elliot?" Alex said and left the room. Both me and Gabby giggled.

~*~Time Laps~*~

I was sitting on the living room sofa when Soul came in, he had gone out with the boys for their last 'hangout'. He looked at me and then grabbed my hand

"Come on...Lets go hang out..." He said and smiled. I couldn't help but smile back.

"Okay!" I said happily. We went for a walk on the island and ended up going into the forest. We walked about a mile and then we came to a small clearing with a beautiful lake in the middle. I smiled and ran over to it.

It was clear blue water, looked like it hadn't been trampled or contaminated. I put my finger in it and smiled, it was a bit chilly but felt good. I turned around and smiled at Soul. He seemed nervous. I walked over to him and grabbed his hand leading him over to the lake. We both sat down and dangled our feet in the cool water. This felt nice. It had been a long time since our last date...



After awhile of just sitting there, talking and laughing, Soul stood up. I looked up at him curiously. He just smiled and held his hand out to me.  I smiled softly and took his hand in mine. He helped me up and hugged me. I smiled again as I hugged him back. He then moved so we were staring in each others eyes. He had a light blush on his cheeks and looked a bit nervous...


"Is something wrong, Soul?" I asked, my tone carried concern in it. He bit his lip then took a deep breath.

"Listen...Maka...I want you to know how much I love you. This may sound selfish but....I want to be with you forever. I want to be the one person you know you can count on to be there for you more then anyone else in the world. I always want to be by your side...even after school ends. We're going to graduate this year and. I feel like I want to be with you forever, always by your side. Through the ups and the downs...I love you so much..." He said and got down on one knee.
I blushed and looked at him, a bit shocked but happy as well. I knew he liked me but for him to say this much about how he felt about me...it made my heart beat to a face pace. I actually kinda liked it. Soul was never one for many words nor was he one to be very serious, but the look on his face showed that he was completely serious at this time.

My eyes widened as he pulled out a small black velvet box from his jacket pocket. He bit his lip as he opened it. Inside was a small gold band with a red ruby gem in the middle.

"M-Maka...Will you marry me?" His face had now gotten a bright shade of red on it. Tears came to my eyes. I was somehow unable to get any words out so I simply nodded with a big, happy smile on my face. His face lit up as I nodded and he quickly put the small ring on my finger. It fit perfectly. I opened my arms and embraced him tightly.

"I love you so much, Soul." I said and kissed him with so much passion and love it made me dizzy! But it was a good dizzy. I loved this man more then life itself and with this ring...it proved that I was his and he was mine...forever...



We had gone back to the beach house and I showed my ring off. We all had a great day. Aunt Sarah was paretically gushing over the news and wanted every detail on how exactly Soul proposed to me.

The next day I realized there was only two more days of summer! Where the hell did all the days go?

"Dear summer, you are not allowed to end! Know why? Cause I said so!" I growled out loud. Gavin looked at me and laughed. He was sitting in the livingroom playing video games and I had my door open so he heard me. I pouted as I was packing my suit case. Soul was in his room packing his stuff up as well.

"When I graduate in a month, I'm moving here with Soul and he's not allowed to object!" I said, to Gavin, or really anyone who would listen, I guess.

"Oh really?" Soul said, walking into my room with an amused smirk on his face. "Already making demands before we're even married?" He asked with a chuckle. I stuck my tongue out at him.

"Yup! Got any problems with it?" I said with a grin. He laughed and put his hands up in surrender.

"I might but I can tell I'll lose every battle we go into!" I giggled,

"I'm so glad your not blind to the truth!" He grinned and pulled me into his arms and began tickling me. I laughed hysterically.

"Ahem, it's not honeymoon time yet~"Gabby said with a giggle as she entered the room. I blushed but smiled and managed to escape Soul's grasp as I ran over and hugged my best friends.

"I'm gonna miss you so much!" I sobbed like a little kid who had dropped their lollipop in the dirt. They hugged me back very tightly.

"Don't you dare forget to write or call!" Gabby demanded.

"And don't be a stranger your always welcome to visit!"Aunt Sarah added with a smile. I nodded and squeezed them both tightly.

"You both are on the top of my wedding invite list!" I said with a big smile and they both squealed.

"I better be a bride's maid! " Gabby said with a grin. I laughed,

"You will be! Trust me." I smiled as she let go and Gavin hugged me from the left and Alex from the right.

"Maka! We love you and you better come visit soon again!" They said in their usual unison voices.

"I really, really, really missed you and your blonde hair." Gavin laughed and he pulled lightly on my hair. Alex slapped his hand away.

"Don't ever pull a girl's hair Gavin! Maka...oh what can I say? I am going to miss you so much!" Alex pulled me into another hug. "You're the best friend a person can ask for and I expect the wedding to be classy by the way. No shot gun weddings. I won't have it." He pulled away and looked me in the eyes. "Got it?" I nodded and he let go.

~*~Time Laps~*~

I waved good bye to my friends as I got on the airplane with Soul. We were holding hands as we took our seats. It was gonna be a long flight home. On the way we talked about our wedding and I was so excited! It was a two hour flight so we decided to get some much needed sleep.

After we landed we decided to walk to our house instead of get a taxi. On our way we ran into Kidd and his two weapons, in human form of course.

'Great, my so-far amazing day is about to be ruined...'

Kidd spotted me and ran up to us. Both his weapons and Soul were not very happy about it. He looked at me and smiled.

"Hey haven't seen you all summer long! Where you been?" He asked sweetly. I smiled a bit,

"Me and Soul went to Hawaii to see some of my family and friends." He frowned when I mentioned Soul and then realized that Soul was actually standing next to me.

"I didn't know you of all people could even afford a vacation." Liz, Kidd's taller blonde weapon, scoffed at me. I growled,

"Well unlike you, I have actual friends and I don't make a living out of pissing people off. Nor do I have gum in my hair." I said and pointed out there was a small piece of green bubble gum in her long, wavy blond hair. Her eyes widened and she gasped and whined.

"Who the hell did this?" I put engagement ring hand to my mouth and giggled. I didn't realize that I had till Patti, Kidd's shorter blonde weapon, (also twins with Liz) had pointed it out.

"What's that?" She asked innocently pointing to the ring. After that Liz noticed it right away. She gasped as she grabbed my hand. I snatched my hand back right away.

"It's my engagement ring." I said with a smirk and hugged Soul. Both Kidd and the twins were in complete shock. Soul smirked and wrapped his arm around my waist. I smiled, "Now if you will excuse us, we need to be getting home. I still have summer homework I haven't finished." I said and grabbed Soul's arm, running. He chuckled as he followed me home.

Once home, I went to my room, and fell asleep. I had actually planned on doing the homework. But not now, I was too tired....
